I have reenacted the Tudor period at Kentwell Hall since 2005 and have been costuming ever since. I started reenacting other eras of history with different groups - Roman, a bit of Medieval and WW2.
This blog is designed to follow my progress in making various items of clothing for the events I do, and to also give me a reminder of how I made it!
The blog starts with my 1535 Gentry Gown.
Your fabric is lovely. I made a pair of stays last year and every time I wear it, I notice that the top edge is slightly off where they come together. One side is higher than the other. I thought this was some error of mine and was going to make a new pair. But I noticed that yours is doing the same thing. Do you think this is because of the way we lace it, or maybe because the eyelets are offset? Val
I'm not entirely sure as to why they aren't level I'm afraid. It might be that they eyelets aren't quite right as I did struggle to get the siral eyelets right on this.
